As always, we use this medium to keep you updated as
to where our crews have traveled. And in spite of the
recent tragedies, we felt it important to continue to
share with you the joy of growing churches.
On July 23, our crew began assembling a 110' dome for
Brookhaven Wesleyan Church in Marion, Indiana. The
structure was built on a basement. The floor plan
includes an entire wrap of the dome for offices and
classrooms. The sanctuary will seat 520 and the balcony
will have seating for 240. The structure incorporated an
18' sidewall in order to accommodate their balcony.
Again, we worked in conjunction with Robert Arrendale of
AET, Inc. out of Indianapolis. This was our sixth
project with Robert’s company so, we know how
beautiful Brookhaven’s new church will be when it is
completed.
Our crew spent the last week of August in beautiful
Marietta, Georgia. There, they built a 100' square with
a 16’ sidewall for Open Bible Tabernacle. The church’s
new building is built on the site of their present
church and school. To customize the structure, architect
Joel Digby designed conventionally framed gables at the
corners of the sanctuary. The new sanctuary will seat
850. When they complete the education wing, their new
complex will be 14,000 square feet. Pastor Eugene Holder’s
son, Mike, is overseeing the project and Warren Gaspard
is working as the on-site supervisor. They were both a
pleasure to work with and we hope that we can work
together with them in the future.
On September 11, we began work in Linesville,
Pennsylvania, building a new 500 seat sanctuary for the
Linesville First Baptist Church. Upon our arrival, UCS
crew members noticed the number of scripture passages
church members had written on the cement slab. That was
fitting comfort for the days ahead. When the 82' octagon
superstructure was in place, job superintendent Eric
Payer brought a flag and asked us to put it on the
building. Everyone admitted it brought tears to their
eyes. The cars honking as they passed by was
indescribable encouragement. This was our third project
with our friends from the design/build company Cogun, Inc., Inc., out of North Lima, Ohio. That week and
this project are not ones that we are likely to forget.
