Visiting New Castle and Edgewater Park

by Shawn Barrett

Recently, Ann Ferguson and Shawn Barrett celebrated with Abundant Life Fellowship as they dedicated their new church in Edgewater Park, New Jersey. They also visited Revival Fellowship in New Castle, Delaware.

Revival Fellowship's octagon during dedication

After receiving an invitation to Abundant Life Fellowship's dedication, UCS sales representatives, Ann Ferguson and Shawn Barrett, felt it would also be a great opportunity to visit Revival Fellowship Church. The two jobs are an hour apart.

They flew into Philadelphia on February 4, and headed straight to Revival Fellowship. They were anxious to see the church before nightfall.

UCS’s assembly crew assembled the 100' octagon in August, 1999. At that time, it was our second octagon with the cupola option. Ever since we have offered the cupola on arch buildings; such as, New Castle, Delaware and Saginaw, Michigan, it is becoming very popular and many churches do not want to build without one. Revival Fellowship demonstrates the beauty that can be added by custom touches; such as, the cupola or round top windows. Inside, you are greeted by warm colors and an elegant decor.

While we were on-site, the Deramo brothers, Mike and Chris, of J. Deramo Contractors, were working late into Friday evening finishing some of the final touches on the balcony. We consider it a privilege to be working with J. Deramo Contractors on two upcoming projects.

Ann and Shawn also watched as the sound system was being put in place. We enjoyed visiting with Pastor Koonce’s son, Dexter and son-in-law, Troy Dorsey. Troy and his wife, Monnie, headed the building project and we congratulate them for their dedication and service. We missed Monnie on this trip, but hope to meet with her some time in the future.

The next morning, Ann and Shawn went to Edgewater Park, New Jersey, for Abundant Life Fellowship’s ribbon cutting ceremony and dedication. Abundant Life Fellowship's 120' dome was assembled in April, 1999. The stunning structure sits on several acres of what use to be the Holiday Lakes Park. When entering the building, you experience the large foyer area with a cathedral ceiling and skylights. The sanctuary seats 675 and features rich reds. The platform area is large enough for an 86 person choir, as well as a band, and the balcony seats 258.

It was a pleasure to meet Aubrey Fenton, his mother Dr. Eve Fenton, and father Pastor Abraham Fenton. Each has an outstanding presence and feel at home in front of large groups. Aubrey put in many hours as head of the building committee. During the service, he graciously thanked his new wife for her support during the process. His hard work is evident by the beautiful and functional structure.

We celebrated the dedication with our friends from Alexander Construction. Architect Frank Brainard, builder Greg Serakowski, and on-site supervisor Dave Garris. They should be proud of the work they performed. We enjoy being teamed up with professionals like Alexander Construction.
