Miamisburg Assembly of God’s
110' dome with narthex.
The end of the year is always a busy time for us.
People like to have their buildings framed in before the
winter months.
On October 15, we began assembling a 110' geodesic
dome for Miamisburg Assembly of God in Miamisburg, Ohio.
The 43,900 square foot complex, which includes basement
and balcony, is being built on their present site. They
plan to turn the current building into a youth center.
Miamisburg happens to be our sixth project, since 1995,
with our colleagues from ADECO, Inc., out of Springboro,
Ohio. We would like to send a special "thank
you" to supervisor, Dave Lutey. Dave unloaded
trucks for us, and gladly lent a helping hand whenever
it was needed.
On October 23, the crew was able to return home for a
job 30 minutes from our office: Sacred Heart Catholic
Church of Birch Run, Michigan. This job was a nice
change since the crew has been traveling from job to job
for the last few months. Being home was not the only
thing special about the 100' octagon. Not only did UCS’s
intern architect, Dave McLane, have his hand in a large
portion of the church’s architectural design, but this
was our first structure with wood deck on the ceiling.
On this project we worked with architect Jed Dingens
from Dingens and Associates, and the general contracting
firm of William Bronner & Son Contracting, Inc.
Thanks to Dave, Jed, and Dave Kiel from Bronner and Son,
we have another beautiful structure in place. We know
Father Carlson and his Parish will be happy there.
On November 1, it was back to Miamisburg to build a
large narthex. ADECO’s narthex design featured
laminated arches which fit our system perfectly.
November 12, put us in Milwaukee, Wisconsin building
a 96' octagon for New Testament Church of Milwaukee’s
Family Life and Education Center. This is our first
project in Wisconsin. The church is planning to use the
new octagon for its music wing. This was also our first
project with Christopher Kidd and John Burke of Taylor,
Kidd, and Associates architects out of Wauwatosa. We are
grateful to them for bringing us this project. We hope
to work together again soon. We would also like to thank
the people of the general contracting firm, Link
Associates, of Waukesa for all their hard work. Job
superintendent, Brian Link, was a pleasure to work with
on-site.
