Working Hard, or Hardly Working?

by Shawn Barrett

This is an easy one...our crew has been working very hard trying to get to everyone’s project before winter.

On October 11, 1999, the UCS crew was on-site in Memphis, Tennessee to erect this 98' octagon for Holy Temple House of Deliverance.

On September 20, we began assembling a 110’ geodesic dome for Faith Soldiers Word Ministries in Charlotte, North Carolina. This project’s location is very unique: the church’s property is at the edge of a golf course. Ann Ferguson was able to get a few holes in during her visit to the job site (yeah right). Ann did, however, spend time with Pastor Carl Turner and prospective clients. She also visited some of our past North Carolina projects.

The first of October, you would have found us working with our old friends from Alexander Construction as well as the fine people of Trinity Full Gospel Church in Lake Milton, Ohio. We know how excited Pastor Long was to build the 60’ dome. He dearly wanted his wife to see the new building, but she passed on before we arrived. She watched over the project from heaven.

We know that Al Serakowski, who passed away earlier this year, would be very proud of his son Greg. Greg took over Alexander Construction after losing his father. We also know how excited Al would be to have their company in our newsletter twice in one year.

On October 11, we were busy prepping arches, getting them ready to install for Holy Temple House of Deliverance. This Memphis church is building a 98’ octagon for its brand new complex. Our crew teased Bishop Bayman about getting a tool belt because he was on-site with them every day. Fred Fields of Economy Remodeling and Construction is the general contractor. This is our second project with Mr. Fields in four months. We hope there are many more in the future.

Next adventure...Akron, Ohio. On November 8, we began assembling an 80’ dome for Mount Calvary Baptist Church. This building has a block sidewall, so our crew was only responsible for the laminated beams and insulated roof panels. Our shingling crew arrived a week later to roof the dome. We were fortunate to work again with the fine people of Krumroy Construction on another successful project. Dan Cozad, and the staff of Krumroy Construction have always been a pleasure to work with.

Presently we are in Port Huron, Michigan assembling a 110’ octagon for Ross Bible Church. December 13, we are headed to Hagerstown, Maryland to build an 80’ hexagon for Church of God Universal. Before Christmas we will be in Grand Haven, Michigan setting arches for Lakeshore Baptist Church’s 96’ octagon. For project updates between newsletters check our website, or contact our office.
